We had a good turnout for the impromptu movie group outing to see Lincoln last Friday. Three other couples joined us at the Moreland, one of the last movie theaters still using 35mm film in Portland. The movie was terrific (almost a sure-fire Best Actor Oscar for Daniel Day-Lewis). And we spent a couple of hours connecting about movies and life at the Laurelwood Pub next door to the theater. Here's a photo; the quality is a little poor due to the back-reflection of the flash from the garage-door style windows. But you can an idea of the group enjoying burgers and beers while discussing the film.
I'm sure we'll do more ad hoc spontaneous film outings like this one. Can't guarantee when, and when we do, there won't be a lot of notice (isn't that the definition of spontaneous). But I'll post details on this blog and will also send out to my private email distribution list. If you live in the Portland area and want to be on that list, let me know. And we might even do a movie or two that are scheduled like before in 2013. We'll have to see how our schedules work out.
Watch out for my review of Lincoln that's coming out on this blog first thing tomorrow.
